If your computer is crashing, as in software is closing with errors, or you are getting what are called "a blue screen of death", the following are things you should check.

1> Windows Update (requires internet connection and internet explorer)

2> Spyware scan (we recommend Lavasoft Ad-aware SE Personal - Best of all, it's FREE!)
   Make sure you also download the latest Definition file prior to a spyware scan.
   Additionally, it is worth running Windows in SAFE MODE to ensure that it can detect all spyware

3> Windows System File Check (requires Windows CD)
   - To run this, Switch on your pc, and when Windows loads, do the following:
   i) Click "START" then Click "Run"
   ii) enter the following in the run-box that opens up.
     sfc /scannow
   iii) Click "Ok"
   The system file checker will run, and may prompt for the Windows XP CD to be inserted - if it does, do so.

4> Virus scan    - we recommend Sophos Anti-virus for business, and Panda Antivirus 2007 for home use)
